I've been into trance since around 2001/2002. Things started, as for most of you, who's been into this genre, from generic progressive trance and then switched to uplifting as scene itself basically switched to it. It has been so for a relatively short while, as there was another milestone for me to change my main genre. Thus, today I'm into most forms of psychedelic trance: goa, darkpsy, psyprog, psytech and variations; except, most definitely, full-on psytrance. Full-on, in my opinion, has nothing to do with term "psychedelic" as it's utterly superficial and rather dull genre in most cases. Of course, some exceptions apply. Although it's my main direction right now, next to ALL mixes on this site are of uplifting-related style. It's not a contradiction since I'm merely a fan of genuine trance music: be it uplifting, classic, progressive, goa, darkpsy or whatever else as long as it's deep and profound.
While one might think that my work has no difference with 99% of the people compiling mixes these days, here's what I've got to say to them. First of all, what I'm compiling is NOT mixes - it's compilations. Word "mix" to me means a pile of random tracks without any common theme, without any concept, without anything whatsoever implying structure. I spend from two to twelve and more months to elect all the necessary tracks to finally make a great thematic compilation. Another thing regarding my compilations would be the "you will never" section. So, you will NEVER: – ...find any "new wave trance" in my sets. I'm talking about: "electro-trance", "pop-trance" JOC - BIg Sky, "recycled house music occasionally called trance" SvD, Pryda, Deadmau5, Durand and other, excuse me, garbage. – ...find a set compiled out of bunch of random uncertain tracks just because these tracks were released "during last month or two". All of my sets - no exception - are thematic [except, if only, new year ones, where I can afford some light festive mess ;]]. This means if you hear first track and it gives you feeling of strong and intelligent trance, for example my "UT Resistance" compilation, you will most definitely hear similar sound throughout the *whole* set. If the first tune is dark, then the *whole* set is about to be dark. If the track is sad, then the *whole* set is about to be sad. No exception. No mess. No garbage sets full of random tunes. No ASOT-type trance which has nothing to do with trance genre. I can spend up to year and more to elect material for certain compilation. I really *do* put efforts to make them worth listening and enjoyable.
Right now I'm about to completely switch to my primary direction. Uplifting trance compilations are about to come to an end very soon. So, keep checking out.
